General Updates
Bank Holidays: No Training
Our classes continue as normal throughout all school holidays, except Bank Holidays and the two weeks we have off at Christmas. Due to this, please note that there are no classes on Friday the 18th and Monday the 21st of April.
If you would normally attend on the Bank Holiday you’re always welcome to make up the class by attending an alternative class before or after that date. If you would like to do this please check out the Timetable page on our website for details of our other classes.
Partnering with ArtMartial Clothing
We are enjoying partnering with ArtMartial for all our hoodies and non-training gear, and have now created a new shop interface so it’s now easier to find what you’re looking for. If you need some new casual wear, now’s the time to check it out here.
Parking at Hills Road
Hill’s Road has started putting their gate across the college car-park (opposite the entrance to the Centre car park). Whilst our members are allowed to use the car park, we aren’t allowed to give the code out to everyone en masse so if you need the code drop us an email or ask at Hill’s Road Reception.
Contacting Us/Live Chat
When we created FuTube back during the lockdown period we included a ‘Live Chat’ feature to enable us to fix any teething problems in real time. As time has moved on and FuTube is no-longer in the ‘being built’ stage we are discontinuing the Live Chat feature.
The best way to get in contact with us is by dropping us an email at email@cambridgekungfu.com, as this is monitored by several members of the team. If you prefer to speak to us in person you can call us on 01223 410555 and leave a message and we will ring you back as soon as someone is available, or you can chat to us after your class if there’s time/it’s appropriate.
We do keep an eye on our social media, however we will not see messages on here as quickly as we will see emails.
If in doubt, email us and we’ll get back to you asap.

We hope that you enjoyed the Christmas break! From Monday 6th January we kick off the new term which runs from Monday 6th January to Saturday 5th April.
From Monday 13th January you will be able to access the syllabus videos on FuTube which you can use to help consolidate your child’s practice at home:

Little Dragons
Junior Warriors
If you need help accessing FuTube just get in touch!
Grading Weeks
This terms Grading dates for Little Dragons and Junior Warriors:
Monday 10th March – Saturday 22nd March inclusive
Please note the Tiny Tigers do not grade.
Your child should attend as normal during the Grading Week as grading takes place within their regular class. Grading is always optional, if your child hasn’t been attending class regularly, please ensure they feel under no pressure to grade. However, if they are keen to grade then FuTube has all the resources they need in order to do some extra practise and preparation at home.
If this is your child’s first Grading their instructor will talk them through what will happen during the classes leading up to grading. Please bear in mind that if your child is a Dragon or Warrior and decides not to Grade they will get a certificate but they will not get a badge. If you will be away for your grading classes then please get in touch about organising an alternative class to grade in if you wish to grade.
Ceremony Week
The week commencing Monday 24th March will be Ceremony Week. Ceremony Week is a “watching week” where you are invited to come into your child’s regular class to watch them perform their Form, receive their certificate and play some Kung Fu games. We look forward to seeing you there and you are very welcome to bring and family or friends who may like to watch.
The week after Ceremony Week (the week commencing Monday 31st March) will be Games Week and the last week of term. In Games Week the children celebrate the hard work they have shown over the term by playing Kung Fu games.
Our fun packed Easter Programme of classes will take place throughout the Easter Holidays with our regular timetable. However please note that Friday 18th and Monday 21st April are Bank Holidays and so there will not be classes on those dates. If you are missing a class due to a Bank Holiday you are very welcome to book in a catch up class for another day. The new term starts on Tuesday 22nd April.
Hill's Road Policies
It is the Hill’s Road Sports and Tennis Centre policy that children under the age of 12 must not be left unattended at the Centre. Please make sure that you pick up and drop off your child at class if they are under this age.
Although we do our best to ensure that our classes aren’t ever cancelled at short notice, there may be extenuating circumstances where this could happen, ensuring you directly drop off your child ensures that they won’t be left unsupervised at the Centre if there is a last minute class cancellation. If you have any questions about this just get in touch.

The workshop is open to YEC students of all levels, however those going for Grade 8 and 12 will need to attend this event or the next one in November before they are able to fully complete the grade. If your child is going for Grade 8 or 12 and is unable to attend please get in touch with us.

Catch Up Classes
We currently ask you to let us know when you’re doing a catch up class on a different day to your normal class. Starting in June, we are trialling a new system whereby you do not need to let us know; you can just turn up. We’re hoping this makes the process of catching up on missed classes easier for everyone.
This will apply to all our adults classes. Kids and Youth will keep the old system of registering your catch up with us due to a different numbers cap for kids and under 18s.
Starting back in 2025
All our classes start back the week beginning Monday 6th January. You are welcome to attend some extra classes in January to make up for any you missed in December. All this term’s details have been uploaded to FuTube so do take a look at what you’re going to be training this term.
Beginner & Intermediate Grading: 17th-22nd March
Senior Grading: 24th-29th March
Revision Grading: 17th-29th March
If you drive to class and don’t have the code for the Hill’s Road overflow car park let me know. Whilst our members are allowed to use this larger car park, we aren’t allowed to give the code out to everyone en masse so if you need the code drop us an email or ask at Hill’s Road Reception.
New Year Blog Post
Each January Ross or Col writes a blog post to end the previous year and start the new one off. This year Col has written it, and you can check it out on FuTube here.
Sunday 19th January 2025 - Free Self Defence Workshop
Every January we organise a free Self Defence Workshop for our members, parents of members, and friends of Cambridge Kung Fu (for ages 16+).
At Cambridge Kung Fu we feel that it is very important for people of all ages to have a working knowledge of Self Defence and the options available to them if a Self Defence situation should occur. Our Kids, Youth, and Adults classes are all geared towards helping members achieve this. However for parents and friends who do not train with us regularly, it can be a daunting subject, and one easily ignored until it’s too late.
This year Col will be holding a free Self Defence workshop aimed at teaching the fundamental concepts needed to help you deal with some of the more unpleasant situations life may bring. Our aim is for attendees to leave the session feeling that they have more options should something happen, the confidence to take the action it requires to protect themselves or others, and an understanding of the UK law on Self Defence.
Adult and 16+ YKF/YEC students are also very welcome to attend, as this workshop will complement your regular training.
When: Sunday 19th January 2025, 10am-1pm
Venue: 28th Scout Hut
Cost: Free
Please spread the word to anyone you feel may benefit from the workshop, and use this form to reserve your place.

This session will be about how to teach, with each member having a go at leading an exercise of their choice and then getting feedback from the group. We will also be doing some cross training between the two arts, to deepen your understanding of the connections between them both.
If you are planning to attend, or are interested in attending but are not sure, please get in touch and let us know.
